About Red Thread.

The People Behind the Business

One of my favorite parts of this work is getting to know the people behind the business.

I love hearing how it all began. What sparked the idea? The small decisions that turned into something bigger. The challenges, the wins, and the pride that comes from creating something of your own.

That's why this work has always felt so exciting to me.

A website is never just a website. Behind every project is a person who took a chance on an idea, a craft, or a service they believed in. Getting to understand that story, and then helping the right people discover it, is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs, so I was surrounded by people who believed in taking chances, solving problems, and creating something of their own. Around our dinner table, conversations weren't just about work. They were about customers, new ideas, setbacks, and the satisfaction of building something from the ground up.

It's probably why I feel so at home working with business owners today.

Long before Red Thread, my sister and I started a small monogram business. Like so many entrepreneurs, we learned as we went. We figured out ecommerce, social media, customer experience, and marketing one step at a time, eventually growing the business and selling it a few years later.

That experience shaped the way I work today. I know what it feels like to wear every hat, make careful decisions about where to spend your time and money, and care deeply about every customer who walks through the door or visits your website.

That's why I enjoy this work so much. Every project reminds me that behind every website is a person who decided to build something worth sharing.

After selling our business, I realized what I enjoyed just as much as building one: helping other people build theirs.

Over the past decade, I've worked in digital marketing with organizations of all sizes, from local businesses and nonprofits to global companies. Along the way, I've learned that while the technology continues to evolve, the questions business owners ask are remarkably similar.

How do people find us?

Does our website represent who we are?

What's worth investing in, and what can wait?

Those are the conversations I enjoy most. Not because there's always a perfect answer, but because every business is different. My job is to understand what you're building, then help you make thoughtful decisions that support it.

The Story Behind the Name

People often ask about the name.

For years, I've been drawn to the idea of the red thread. You'll find it in different cultures and traditions, where it represents connection, guidance, and the things that tie everything together. I never chose it because of one specific story. I chose it because it reflects the way I've always approached my work.

When I meet a business owner, I'm naturally curious. I want to understand what you're building, how you got here, and what makes your business different before I start talking about websites or Google or marketing. The technology is important, but it's never the starting point.

To me, Red Thread is about connecting the pieces in a way that feels thoughtful and true to your business. When those pieces come together, your online presence doesn't just look better. It feels like a natural extension of the work you've already put into building something you're proud of.

How I Work

No two businesses are the same, so I don't believe in one-size-fits-all solutions.

Sometimes the right answer is a new website. Other times it's improving how people find you online, organizing the digital pieces you already have, or simply helping you decide what makes the most sense for your business.

Before I recommend anything, I want to understand what you're building, where you are today, and where you'd like to go. From there, we can decide on the right path together.

My goal isn't to sell you more than you need. It's to give you thoughtful advice, do good work, and leave you with a digital presence you're proud of.

Tell me a little about your business and what you're working on. Whether you need a website, greater visibility, or simply a trusted sounding board, I'd be happy to help.

Let’s Start with a Conversation

"Working with Tate felt like having both a marketing consultant and web designer in one. She quickly understood what made our business different, organized our ideas into a clear plan, and created a website that finally felt like us.”
